Quick book rec

My critique partner, Susanna Fraser, has a new book out today from Carina Press: A Marriage of Inconvenience!

(She gets the best covers, seriously.) I read this book in critique group, and I can tell you that it’s awesome. The hero in particular has one of the most charming narrative voices I’ve ever seen in a romance. (Lucy is great too! I just can’t help loving James best.) It’s a prequel to her first book, The Sergeant’s Lady, a Peninsular War story that I believe is on sale this week if you haven’t already read it!

Susanna is doing a blog tour, giving away copies of the book at most of the stops, and she will be here on my blog on April 19th! Last time she talked about Team Wellington vs. Team Napoleon, I can’t wait to see what she comes up with this time.

  1. Oh, very fun! I’ll keep an eye out for the books and see if I can’t manage to follow the blog tour. Thanks for the heads up!

    1. You’re welcome! Hey, was it you I was talking to about the Gentlemen Bastards series? I finally read Red Seas Under Red Skies! I have to admit I didn’t love it as much as the first book, but I’m pretty excited for the last one. Jean continues to be my favorite character so I hope some nice stuff happens for him.

      1. Yep! That was me. 🙂 The first book is still my favorite too, but some of the pirate scenes are too much fun not to reread every now and again. I can’t wait to read the next one and see what happens to them next. And yes, Jean needs to find a nice place where he can settle down and not have to keep taking care of Locke all the time. 😉

        1. It’s tough, because Jean loves Locke so much it’s hard to imagine him being happy without him…but at the same time it’s hard to imagine him being happy WITH him. Poor guys!

          1. Yeah, I have a feeling they’re going to have a lot more to go through before Locke’s able to settle down a bit, but after that it might work. Maybe?

          2. If Sabetha shows up and like immediately fixes Locke’s emotional problems after Jean was his loyal bff for years and had no success, I’m going to be insulted on all their behalfs. I am trying to have faith in Scott Lynch though!

          3. Me, too! I’m looking forward to meeting Sabetha, but I can’t imagine Locke being magically better because she’s there.
