New contest: "Summer is for Lovers" by Jennifer McQuiston

ETA: This contest is closed. Earlene won the book!

With summer just around the corner in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought this was a good time to give away a signed copy of a unique historical I just read by Jennifer McQuiston: Summer is for Lovers.

Pictured: Spokesmodel T-Rex (not included in giveaway) chilling at the Brighton Pavillion (also not included) with Summer is for Lovers (included) and a romantic picnic for a lady or gentleman friend (not included).

The book (linked to McQuiston’s first book, What Happens in Scotland, but I’m not sure how because I haven’t read that one yet) is set in 1840s Brighton, and the heroine is a swimmer!!!! Jen did an amazing job of giving things a historical feel while still being very relatable—for example, there’s one scene where the popular girl throws a party while her father’s out of town, and everyone plays naughty party games, wrecks the house, and smokes up. I felt like I was reading historical Judy Blume in the best possible way! The swimming is delightful, the romance is hot, Caroline was a wonderful heroine, and I definitely cried at some of the family stuff at the end.

The back-cover copy:

His heart is unavailable. Luckily, her interest lies in the rest of him…

Though she was just a girl when they first met, Caroline Tolbertson’s infatuation with David Cameron remains undimmed. Now fate has brought the handsome Scotsman back to Brighton for what promises to be an unforgettable summer. Soon, Caroline will have to choose a husband, but for now she is free to indulge her curiosity in things of a passionate nature.

That is, if David will agree to teach her.

Past mistakes have convinced David he’ll make a terrible husband, though he’ll gladly help the unconventional Caroline find a suitor. Unfortunately, she has something more scandalous in mind. As the contenders for her hand begin to line up, her future seems assured…provided David can do the honorable thing and let them have her.

When a spirited young woman is determined to break Society’s rules, all a gentleman can do is lend a hand…or more.

The rules:

2. The winner will be chosen at random using random.org.
3. US and Canada only.
4. Open for entries through June 15th, 2015.

    1. Good luck! I also love a crush-to-real-love story…I especially enjoy watching the crusher make the transition between viewing the crush as a perfect object to understanding they are a real, flawed human being with emotional needs. So satisfying!

I used to read Dinosaur Comics religiously. I’ve fallen behind the last few years, but I still adore T-Rex.
