New contest: LISTEN TO THE MOON e-books, and a gift basket!

ETA: This contest is now closed. JCP won the gift basket, and K, Elaine C, Joye, Angela, and LSUReader won the e-books!

Listen to the Moon comes out in just a few weeks, and to celebrate, I’m giving away 5 e-books and a lovely gift basket of items (basket not included)!

Listen to the Moon is book 3 in my Lively St. Lemeston series, and this one focuses on a romance between servants! (Readers of Sweet Disorder may recognize them…)

John Toogood dreamed of being valet to a great man…before he was laid off and blacklisted. Now he’s stuck in small-town Lively St. Lemeston until London’s Season opens and he can begin his listen coverembarrassing job hunt. His instant attraction to happy-go-lucky maid Sukey Grimes couldn’t come at a worse time. Her manners are provincial, her respect for authority nonexistent, and her outdated cleaning methods—well, the less said about them, the better.

Behind John’s austere façade, Sukey catches tantalizing glimpses of a lonely man with a gift for laughter. Yet her heart warns her not to fall for a man with one foot out the door, no matter how devastating his kiss.

Then he lands a butler job in town—but there’s a catch. His employer, the vicar, insists Toogood be respectably married. Against both their better judgments, he and Sukey come to an arrangement. But the knot is barely tied when Sukey realizes she underestimated just how vexing it can be to be married to the boss…

You can read the first chapter and pre-order the book here.

The gift basket includes:

1. A tin of Twinings English Breakfast tea! Twinings and Jackson’s of Picadilly both claim to be the first purveyors of Earl Grey tea, based on a recipe provided by Lady Grey herself (wife of the famous Whig Peer whose primiership saw in the Great Reform Act of 1832). Both of their claims are probably bullshit, but I bet they still make great tea. Twinings edged out Jackson’s because it comes in a cute tin and they have a Royal Warrant. Although the two companies actually merged and are owned by the same people.

2. Dried rose petals. These are food grade so you can use them for whatever! Here are some helpful lists of things to do with dried rose petals if you are stumped.

3. Godiva cherry cordials (not pictured as I want them to be fresh and delicious!), since I can’t ship cherry bounce (the infused brandy Toogood and Sukey drink in the book).

4. Paperback copies of both Sweet Disorder and Listen to the Moon.

5. Four votives from Kittredge Candles. Scents: leather, roses, clean linen, and Barber Shoppe.

6. Downton Abbey season 1 DVDs.

7. Very Good, Jeeves, a collection of Jeeves and Wooster short stories. Jeeves was one of my first starchy English valets and I adore him.

8. The Butler’s Guide to Running the Home and Other Graces by Stanley Ager (experienced butler at an English country house) and Fiona St. Aubyn (member of the family he worked for). Foreword by Downton Abbey‘s historical consultant!

9. Bookmarks, postcards, and buttons, including one of my beloved “The butler did her!” buttons.

  1. Excited for the release since I loved True Pretenses! I will admit of all the non-book swag I want that button the most, but those Godiva cherry cordials would be entirely welcome! 🙂

    1. I love Godiva chocolate. My dad used to get my mom a box every Christmas, and while I don’t think it was quite the thoughtful, personal gift she wanted, I loved it because she let me eat one piece a day and they were all such elegant shapes! And the BOX. ::swoons::
      Good luck in the drawing!

  2. A wwonderful giveaway chance. It’s an awesome list of prizes. Cherry cordials will make up for the lack of Brandy. 🙂 Happy Holidays.

    1. Thanks!! I love putting these together. Happy holidays!
(By the way, so long as you put your email address in the email box, it’s okay if you don’t also put it in the comment. That way, I can see it but no one else can.)

    1. I know right? I have loved starchy butlers pretty much my whole life so it was pretty exciting to finally write one. I hope you like it!

  3. Thanks for another great contest, Rose.
I want to share a south Louisiana view on cherry bounce. As recently as when I was growing up, many folks personally made their own recipes of potent cherry bounce . (My Dad did, his Dad did, etc.) The story goes that if a someone offered you a glass with a half-inch of cherry bounce in it, take it; they are your friend. If someone offered you a drink with an inch or more of cherry bounce, stay away–they’re trying to kill you!

    1. Thank you! Ash is a babe, isn’t he? He might be my favorite hero I’ve written…although I hate playing favorites, and of course I’m very fond of all of them. 😉 Good luck in the drawing!

    1. Isn’t she a darling? Hopefully you will feel I’ve given her everything she deserves, because she deserves everything.

  4. It’s such a beautiful setting and T-Rex adds a stand-out colorful touch! Reading the gift basket items, I pictured myself in the bath tub surrounded by rose petals, drinking English breakfast tea, nibbling Godiva cherry cordials and reading Listen To The Moon…
My bath tube is not made for bathing, hence the rose petals will go somewhere else…
Thanks for another wonderful contest, Rose!

    1. lol! T-Rex really shines in any setting, he is a very versatile model. I should make him an audition tape for Tyra Banks!
      Thank you! Good luck. 😀

  5. What a great prize. I am a tea drinker and like Twinnings brand a lot. A good time is sitting in my recliner reading a good book with a cuo of hot tea and my dog Cody by my side. Merry Crhistmas and have a Happy New Year.

  6. The gift basket sounds awesome. When I get it I will pretend to be British and watch Downtown Abbey and drink tea. Love Twinning English Breakfast tea. Thanks for the chance to win.

  7. Thanks for making this wonderful give-away available, Rose. I’m looking forward to reading Listen to the Moon, as I truly enjoy your exceptional writing. Happy holidays.

    1. I love putting these together, so thank you guys for making it all worthwhile! And I am so happy you enjoy the newsletters! Good luck in the drawing. 🙂

  8. What a great package, even without the booze! I prefer tea anyway. Can’t wait for the new book to appear in my kindle app. I am enjoying your Hamilton obsession. I have a bit (more than a bit) of a Lin-Manuel Miranda obsession and would love to see Hamilton. Or at least listen to the cast album.

    1. Do you have Amazon Prime or Spotify? I’m pretty sure you can stream the cast album for free both places…Lin-Manuel Miranda brings the light into my life, for real. What a genius angel.
      Good luck in the drawing!

  9. Bertie and Jeeves are fantastic- my favorite is all of the ridiculous nicknames! (Please oh please could you incorporate some into Stephen’s book?)
PS. I think it’s lovely that you reply to each comment 🙂

    1. lol, and then I take a hundred years to reply to your comment! Thank you.
What kind of nicknames do you mean? Bertie’s silly posh friends?

  10. You had me at English Breakfast Tea (and just for the record…Earl Grey tastes like dish soap to me…not that I spend a lot of time drinking dish soap!!). The books are a big draw so I hope I win!!

    1. Heh, I have that reaction to certain citrus-flavored things as well! We just started carrying a new brand of Emergen-C-type stuff, and I don’t know why but it just tastes like cleanser to me.
      Good luck in the drawing!

    1. Someday I’ll be rich and successful and all my giveaways will be international! I appreciate your patience in the meantime. 🙂 Good luck in the e-book drawing!

  11. This is a lovely selection of gifts you’re offering. I haven’t had a cherry cordial in years. My downstairs neighbor loved them and her husband gave her a box every year. That’s the only time I’ve had them – back in the 80’s. I never thought to buy them for myself. I certainly buy a lot of chocolate.
I’ve enjoyed all your books. You’re a terrific writer. Happy New Year, Rose!

    1. It’s funny how there are some things you only eat/use when other people give them to you. My mom always used to buy me Walker’s shortbread on Hanukkah and finally this year I bought it for myself…but it honestly never occurred to me to do it before!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed them. Happy new year!

  12. Thank you!! I am actually not a tea drinker…but I wish I was on these cold winter days! Good luck in the drawing. 🙂

  13. Hi Rose, I love your books and am really looking forward to Listen to the Moon. I did not realize you had a new one coming out until today!

  14. I love that your romance is between servants. That’s very interesting and rarely done. (Btw I loved the romance between housemaid/lady’s maid Anna and valet Bates in Downton Abbey). I look forward to reading it. Thanks for the chance!

    1. I love Anna and Bates together too! Anna is THE BEST. (I’m actually doing a post about it at Heroes and Heartbreakers this Friday. 🙂

  15. I could have sworn I put a comment on this already, but now I can’t find it, so apologies if I repeat myself. But I am a greedy, greedy person, and I want all the things!
I am so happy LISTEN TO THE MOON is out! I have been looking forward all day to starting it while cozied up in my jammies.

  16. Fun giveaway! I love Jeeves and Wooster. I am unfamiliar with this series, I’m going to have to look into it.

  17. Hi Rose,
This basket is definitely for me. 🙂 I’m an anglophile and love the prizes. Especially the books and the Downton Abbey DVDs. I wanted to watch the show but missed out. I’m in the process of moving from FL to TX so I will have a new address soon. CHEERS! xxoo Happy New Year!

  18. I am impressed by the thought that went into deciding such a lovely gift basket. I’m sure whoever receives it will enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
The eBook, of course, is also a lovely touch, and something that can be received almost instantly, rather than waiting for snail mail.
Either way, thank you for sharing the love.
