New contest: "Fool Me Twice" by Meredith Duran

ETA: This contest is now closed. jcp won the book!

Duran’s Lady Be Good (about an ex-thief trying to go straight, who must do one last job for an aristocratic and very angsty veteran) smashed my reading slump into bits at RWA, and I can’t wait to read the next one, about the ice queen manager of the auction house, so I thought this would be a good time to give away a signed-by-the-author copy of book 2 in the series and a 2015 RITA winner, Fool Me Twice!

Spokesmodel T-Rex (not included in giveaway) poses as the dashing, dangerous but agoraphobic slob, Alastair Marwick.

A LADY WITH A SECRET

Running for her life, exhausted and out of options, Olivia Holladay wants nothing more than the chance to make a home for herself. So when she realizes that the infamous Duke of Marwick might hold the key to her freedom, she boldly disguises herself as the newest and bravest in a long line of the duke’s notoriously temperamental housekeepers. Little does she know that the wickedly handsome Alastair de Grey has very different plans for her.

A MAN WITH A PASSION—FOR VENGEANCE

As his new employee, Olivia is a fearless upstart. As a woman, the daring redhead is just what Alastair needs to rouse him from darkness to the siren call of revenge. He has suffered a betrayal so deep that he will use whatever means necessary to destroy his enemies—even his brazen and beautiful domestic. But his vengeful plan fails to account for his single weakness: an irresistible and growing passion for the enigmatic Olivia.

What is it about “I am pretending to be his housekeeper and out of sheer frustration bring his horrible house into spotless order” stories that I am such a sucker for???? I don’t know but I love it every time. Put-upon competence is my thing, I guess, which is why I love Captain America so much. But seriously, this book is amazing and the romantic tension is some of the best I’ve ever read. Read my full flaily Goodreads review (including a trigger warning).

Contest rules:

1. Comment on this post to enter.
2. The winner will be chosen at random using random.org.
3. US and Canada only.
4. Open for entries through August 28th, 2015. [NB: I’m changing up my contest rules a little so they only run for a week. Contests will still be more or less monthly. I’m making this change because the first week is when I get all my entries anyway, so it shouldn’t actually affect anyone but should just let me get the book out to the winner sooner. But I point it out because I don’t want you to think I’m trying to pull a fast one.]
5. I got this book signed at a conference. Meredith isn’t involved in the giveaway.

If you’d like to be alerted when new contests go up, you can sign up for my newsletter.

Good luck!

  1. I really enjoyed this book and would like an autographed copy. I just finished Lady Be Good in this series and that was very good, too.

    1. I LOVED Lady Be Good. Her books are so intense! I was at a conference and I still couldn’t stop reading once I started.

  2. Would love a signed copy of this! Saw your contest shared on fb, and just from the post I want to read your books! See how much of your personality comes through your characters. 🙂

    1. Yes!! Duran is one of my very favorite histrom authors. Wicked Becomes You might still be my favorite, but they’re all an intense reading experience.

  3. I love it when a character’s plans get a bit twisted up and don’t quite turn out the way they planned. In this case, it works that way for 2 characters. Attraction and love can certainly do much to send people in a direction they hadn’t planned. I look forward to reading this book.

  4. “Hero gets got good by heroine who gives as good as she gets!” Yum-Yum-Yum-Mighty Fine Fun!!!
    Great review,too–I “liked” it : )
    Sounds like a ravishing, rip-roaring, “Beauty & The Beast” romance–I can’t resist!!!
Thanks for offering this terrific giveaway : )

  5. This is a new book and author for me. I would love to read it. Thanks for the chance to win. My daughter would love the stuffed T-Rex.

  6. Spokesmodel T-Rex? How about I create a spokesmodel fairy for you one of these days, though I don’t know if I can find the color “thigh of an aroused nymph” for the wings..

    1. Aw, thanks, Jeanie! I looked at your fairies on facebook and they’re adorbs!!! I think T-Rex is solidly part of my brand by now, but I appreciate the offer very much. 🙂
      Good luck in the drawing!

  7. Rose, your 8/22 newsletter is fantastic! I’m holding on to it as there are several things I want to read. KUDOS!
I suffer from Agoraphobia. It would be nice to see how the hero in FMT deals with it.
    Have a great day!
    xo Mel

    1. Mel, hi! Thanks so much. That’s awesome that you enjoyed the newsletter, I love writing them. And if you read FMT I’d love to hear what you think of the portrayal of agoraphobia. Good luck in the drawing!

  8. I have not read this book but would love a chance to win it so I can. 🙂 It sounds like a really good story.
Thanks for the chance to win it.

  9. What a great prize, I started reading Duran’s books with That Scandalous Summer and have enjoyed them ever since.
