Distribution glitch

ETA3: Everything should be fixed. Please let me know if you spot one of my books missing anywhere!! (I’d also love to hear from someone who had pre-ordered through Kobo and didn’t manually reorder. Did you get your book, or no?)

ETA2: All my books have now disappeared from Nook. I am so, so sorry. Hopefully they will be back soon!

ETA: All my books seem to have reappeared everywhere, although the sale price for True Pretenses is still not available on Kobo. Samhain is working on it! HOWEVER, if you pre-ordered Listen to the Moon through Kobo, you will need to re-order. Sorry!

Apparently Apple pre-orders were not affected, and your book should have arrived with only a slight delay.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact me if you notice one of my books missing anywhere, or if you are having difficulty with a pre-order.

Hi all!

Samhain is currently having a distribution glitch, and my new release Listen to the Moon is unavailable from Kobo and iTunes.

The glitch is also affecting my other books at various retailers, as well as affecting the sale price on Sweet Disorder and True Pretenses. Hopefully it will be fixed very shortly.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience! I will keep this post updated with news when I have it.

Listen to the Moon: Deleted Scene #2

The threesome that never was!

In the first draft of Listen to the Moon, I wrote a threesome. Because John and Sukey dirty-talk about one, and I felt like it was Chekov’s threesome. Like if I hung it over the fireplace I had to fire it in the third act. And also I was really excited to write it! It didn’t hurt that I totally pictured the third person as Hayley Atwell.

Unfortunately I just didn’t have space in the finished book for 5000 extra words of sex PLUS the emotional fallout and everything. So! Here it is, for the dedicated fan (or, you know, the pervy fan!).

In the original opening of Chapter 16, instead of the coach already being in Chichester it was still halfway through the journey. The scene follows directly from:

When her feet and hands had gone good and numb, the coach pulled off the road into an innyard. Sukey was afeared to stand. Her legs might not hold her, and then she’d fall to her death and they’d have to fish her out of a snowdrift and bury her in this strange town, away from all her people.

But John helped her up, holding her elbows until she found her balance. He clambered down into the unsteady snow and caught her when she jumped, his hands strong and familiar at her waist…

TRUE PRETENSES short story!

To celebrate the release of Listen to the Moon (about a very proper valet and a snarky maid-of-all-work who marry to get a plum job), here is the traditional free short story about the characters of my last book, True Pretenses.

It’s probably no surprise to anyone that I’ve been reading a lot about Aaron Burr. He was in England in 1808-9, and I kept coming up with different crossover scenarios where my characters met him. A few weeks ago, I spent some time fantasizing about Ash and Rafe running a con on him, and when Courtney Milan and Jenni requested I actually write it, I couldn’t resist.

The story follows directly from this passage in Burr’s journal, when he “[l]ost or spent 28 shillings and a pair of gloves” in Birmingham on Christmas Eve 1808, on his way to Edinburgh. As it happens, Ash mentions in True Pretenses that he was in Yorkshire on Christmas Eve 1808—in Dewsbury, to be exact, where they ring a bell once for each year since Christ’s birth.

Dewsbury is just off the Great North Road, north of Birmingham and south of Edinburgh…
